Dear Parents/Guardians,
♦ Easter Disco: Our Easter Disco was a wonderful success- all the children had great fun! Thanks to the Parents Association for their continued support and you, the parents/ guardians for taking part in our fundraiser. We hope to have another one soon!
♦ Art Appreciation Day: A day to appreciate ‘The Arts’ in our school will be held on Wednesday 22nd May. A full schedule of the day will be sent to homes nearer to the event. Many classes have already started preparing for it. All are welcome with funds raised going towards the school.
♦ Book bills: There are still outstanding book bills in the school. I strongly urge you to pay for outstanding bills as soon as possible. If you wish to start paying for the book bill for next year, you are welcome to do so by calling into Fiona in the office.
♦ Reminder: If a child is being collected by someone other than a nominated adult, the school must be notified.
♦ Clothing Collection: There will be a clothing collection on Saturday 4th May between 11am and 1pm at the school. Please enter via the gate. All proceeds will go towards the school and its upkeep.
♦ Student Absence: The number of girls with a high rate of absence is increasing every year. When a pupil is absent for 20 days or more, I am obliged to report this to Túsla – the Child and Family Agency. In recent years, parents have begun to withdraw children from school well in advance of school closing for summer holidays. If you intend taking your child out of school for any period of time this must be stated in advance in writing.
♦ Parents Association: Meeting on Tuesday 7th May @ 7.30pm in the school. I would ask you all to consider joining the Parents Association. It would be great to have each class represented and also to ensure that Parents voices are heard. The Parents Association plays a major part in school life here in Scoil Mhuire Lourdes.
♦ Defibrillator: A big thank you to William Roche and Úna Kelly from the Tullow First Responders for taking the time out to train our staff. Our new defibrillator is located inside the school.
♦Bóthar: Thank you to all who supported our ‘Bees for Bóthar’ campaign. We raised €60. Thank you to all for your contribution.
♦ School Calendar: Our holidays/breaks for the 19/20 school year is complete. Each family have received a copy. School will reopen on Thursday, August 29th 2019. It is also available on the school website www.smltullow.ie
♦ Swimming 19/20:Next year’s 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th class will be going swimming in September. The cost of the bus, lessons and use of the pool with be €70 per child. Any parent who wishes may start paying towards this cost from now.
♦ Drama: Drama with Keelin is starting back every Monday for each class.
♦ School Closure: School will be closed on Monday 6th May as it is a Bank holiday. Reopen on Tuesday 7th May.
