Magnetism in Junior Infants

This month Ms. Madden’s class learned about magnetism. We couldn’t wait to see what our magnets would stick to! We had lots of fun experimenting and testing out our theories. The best part was playing with the magnets and discovering what classroom objects were magnetic. Take a look at us working scientifically!

Leprechaun hunt in Junior Infants

A leprechaun has been spotted in the playground sprinkling magic dust! Junior Infants investigated all the clues he had left and the magical leprechuan dust. The ladies managed to locate some of his treasure which they took back to to the class. Ms. Madden was asked to given each girl some dust going home to see if the leprechaun might come to visit in someones house!

People Who Help Us

Ms. Madden’s Junior Infants

This week we have been learning about the people who help us in our local community. We have been very busy during Aistear time building hospitals, veterinary surgeries, doctor’s surgeries, fire stations and police stations with Lego. We have also role played working as a chef in our kitchen and serving customers in our classroom shop. We really enjoyed acting out the different parts! Our favourite costume was the fire fighter! We hope you enjoy these pictures of us having fun and learning through play.

Our Spring Walk: Ms. Maddens Class

Today we explored the grounds of the school to search for signs of Spring. We found lots of new buds, small flowers and even some daffodils! We were very excited to see the daffodils in bloom and when we went in, we made some daffodils of our very own during Aistear time. Here are some photos of us on our nature walk.

Ms. Madden’s class have a fairy door!

Exciting news! Ms. Madden’s class have a new fairy door and a school fairy has moved in! Her name is Poppy Flutter and she loves raisins, playing with toys and writing notes for her new friends in our class!  The girls have been very busy during Aistear time making brick houses, gardens, swimming pools, classrooms and playgrounds for Poppy. They have also discussed healthy food that Poppy  may enjoy and have made her some delicious meals using healthy ingredients. We have to remember that Poppy only eats healthy food and absolutely can’t have Cheese Puffs, as they would turn her orange! We also explored the Fabric and Fibre strand of the Visual Arts curriculum by making costumes for Poppy using different materials. As we have been focusing on the weather this month, we made sure that the materials chosen would keep Poppy warm! Here are some photographs of us at work.
