March Newsletter 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Lent: As is usual during Lent we will be donating to the Bóthar Lenten Campaign. We are selling some ‘Bee’ pictures to colour in the office for 20cent.

♦ Sacrament of Reconciliation: Will take place on Wednesday 27th March @ 7pm for all children making their communion in 2nd class. Please be on time for the ceremony.  Confirmation: We wish every luck and blessing to the girls making their Confirmation on April 13th @ 11am. Enjoy your special day ladies!

Tullow Tidy Towns: Well done to all those who participated in the St. Patricks Parade from Junior Infants in conjunction with Tullow Tidy Town- you all looked great!

Walk A mile: Back up and running every Thursday morning @ 9am.

♦ Seachtain Na Gaeilge: Was a great success- well done to all the prize winners in our ‘Seanfhocail’ competition from each class. A great effort was made by all to practise “cúpla focal” (couple of Irish words).

Book bills: There are still a number of outstanding book bills in the school. I strongly urge you to pay for outstanding bills as soon as possible. If you wish to start paying for the book bill for next year, you are welcome to do so by calling into Fiona in the office.

♦ Reminder: if a child is being collected by someone other than a nominated adult, the school must be notified.

♦ Child Safe Guarding Statement: This has been reviewed and ratified. It is available smltullow.ie.

♦ National Spring Clean: All classes are looking forward to our annual ‘Spring Clean’ on Thursday 11th April around the school environment – weather permitting.  If girls chose to bring in gloves etc. please ensure their names are written on them.

♦ Student Absence: The number of girls with a high rate of absence is increasing every year.  When a pupil is absent for 20 days or more, I am obliged to report this to Túsla – the Child and Family Agency.  In recent years, parents have begun to withdraw children from school well in advance of school closing for summer holidays. If you intend taking your child out of school for any period of time this must be stated in advance in writing.

Parents Association:Meeting on Tuesday 2nd April @ 7.30pm in the school. All welcome.

Defibrillator: Thanks to the Parents Association for all their hard work in fundraising for the defibrillator which will be located inside the main school building shortly.

Senior Infants: Prize Giving day for the children in senior infants involved in the Paired Reading initiative on Thursday 4th April @ 2pm in the hall. All parents/ guardians are welcome.

Traffic: There has been an increase in the number of children waiting at the gate in the morning. It has been brought to the attention of school management that some parents/guardians are not exercising care when dropping off their children in the mornings.  Please ensure that you park properly (not on zig-zag lines or in bus spaces) and that your daughter gets out of the car on the correct side – not into the path of oncoming traffic. Reminder the school gate will not open until 9am

School Closure: Reminder the school will be closed for the Easter holidays from the 15th-26th April. School will reopen on the 29th April @ 9.10am

Signed:
