Student Council

Student Council 2023-2024

At Scoil Mhuire Lourdes, our Student Council members will represent the voice and opinions of all the children within our school. Through our Student Council we aim to develop young leadership skills, whilst supporting student democracy. The Student Council is an ideal opportunity for pupils to get more involved in the way the school is run. It benefits the whole school, pupils and teachers, because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings as well as influence decisions that are made.

The Student Council is run and led by the children, supported by a member of staff, and takes an active role in making decisions and suggestions on behalf of the children in the school.

Our fish have been named!

During our assembly today we announced the names of our fish. Thank you to everyone for their entries. We thoroughly enjoyed going through them all.

Small sucker fish: MAID- by Emma Jane in 4th. She picked this name because similar to a maid, this fish has lots of jobs to do around the fish tank to keep it clean.

Fish with a coloured fin: HARLEY FINN- by Aoibheann in 2nd class. She picked this name because it is a play on the well know character of Harley Quinn.

Medium Goldfish: FERDINAND-by Maria in 5th class. She picked this name because it is a strong name for a little fish who may need a boost of extra confidence whilst being in a school of independent young ladies!

Large Goldfish: CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW- by Mara in Junior Infants. She picked this name because her Daddy loves Johnny Depp and he played this character in a movie.
