Golf Competition by Amelia in 6th Class

I entered the Irish Schools (Girls) Junior Championship 2022 Leinster Region.

The competition was held in Clontarf Golf Club on Friday 25 th March 2022. My tee time was 9.35. I played with two other girls one 15 year old and one 14 year old. A number of individual girls entered the competition and also girls played in teams representing their school. They were also eligible to win the individual prize on the day. I was the youngest girl playing in the competition. There were only two girls playing from primary school, all of the other girls were in secondary school. The week before the competition I went up to Mount Wolseley Golf Club with my Dad to play nine holes and also to practice. I went up three afternoons after school. I was happy with my practice. The night before the competition I checked my golf bag to make sure I had everything that I needed
and also cleaned by clubs. On the morning of the competition my Dad drove me to Dublin to the golf club. I had never met the girls that I was playing with but they were very nice and we chatted during the round. It was an 18 hole competition. I had a score of 46 points and I was very happy. The golf club provided food for all the players and two of my friends that I play with regularly were also there. All the girls had lunch together. Their was a presentation after we had our food. I was delighted when the lady from Golf Ireland called out my name and said I had won the competition with a great score of 46 points. I am looking forward to playing in more Golf Ireland events when I get my Summer holidays. It is a great sport and I have made lots of friends.
