3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes were entertained recently in the school hall by The Moon and Sixpence Puppet Theatre. As well as lots of laughter the children learned about puppeteering and theatre in a fun way.
To celebrate World Book Week Jackie Burke, a popular children’s author, visited 3rd and 4th classes. The girls very much enjoyed Jackie’s visit. They shared their enthusiasm for writing and reading with Jackie by discussing writing tips, inspirational ideas and favourite authors. We have lots of budding authors in our school!
The girls in 3rd had a super time exploring their hometown of Tullow. They examined local monuments and the cemetery, examining the past. They visited the Thomas Traynor memorial and found out lots of facts about him. It was great fun!
The mathematicians in 4th and 5th classes attended a fun and entertaining show in Carlow IT on Tuesday the 1st of March. The show, ‘Secrets, Lies and Randomness’ was presented by Dr Maths and organised by STEPS, Engineers Ireland. Dr Maths showed the girls how to perform magic tricks with playing cards, using their mathematical skills. The girls agreed it was a very enjoyable show.
The budding engineers of 3rd Class were entertained in Tullow Library on Thursday by Fionnghuala Ryan, Environmental Awareness Officer. They learned all about Climate Change and Renewable Energies in a fun and exciting way while playing the ‘Energy Game’. A great morning was had by all.
